Mediation is about the practical and legal arrangements you and your former partner make about your children, home, possessions and finances and it offers a way of settling disputes after your marriage or relationship breaks down. Mediation is especially beneficial where children are concerned because it may dramatically shorten the period of time required to reach agreement for their wellbeing, thus reducing anxiety, conflict and distress.
Commercial disputes are a massive drain on the British economy and, since 1999, changes to the Civil Court Rules have encouraged companies to embrace a new culture of dispute resolution where litigation is entered into only as a final and last resort. The cost of commercial disputes affects us all; from companies to individuals alike.
Accord Mediation: Mediation services throughout the South West
ACCORD was founded in 1996 as an independent panel of accredited professionals who provide Mediation Services for all Family Matters. ACCORD now operates throughout the South West. In addition to private fee paying clients, ACCORD holds a Franchise to grant Legal Aid to clients who are eligible for free mediation. All of ACCORD’s mediators have been carefully selected and are supervised by their respective professional bodies.
A mediator cannot assist any person for whom they have had previous dealings with legally, or in any other professional capacity. The mediators are supported by a large administrative team operating out of our Head offices in Truro (Cornwall) and Plymouth (Devon & Somerset). This ensures that a conflict of interest does not arise and that confidentiality is maintained at all times.

The outcome of mediation is always within the control of the parties. With the help of the mediator they decide for themselves upon a settlement that they can live with.
